7-Days Thrilling Primates & Wildlife Safari

The safari will take you to Kibale Forest National Park, which is home to endangered chimps and is known as the primate capital of the world (13 primate species live to hear).
The Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s second largest. It is home to over 96 mammal species, 610 bird species, the most hippos in East Africa, and the famous Ishasha tree-climbing lions.
Due to its ecological richness, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Half of the population of the endangered gorilla species lives in the park.

Trip Summary 

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe international airport

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Day 3: Chimp tracking experience and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park 

Day  4: Morning game drive and afternoon boat trip at Kazinga channel 

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi with an en-en-route game drive

Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe international airport.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, here you will be met and greeted by our professional guide after he gives a brief session about your safari experience and transfer to your lodge for check-in and refresh with dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Wake up early for breakfast and then transfer to the world capital for primates, with spectacular views of the Kyegegwa rocks and tea plantation field areas. Arrive in Fort Portal town and have lunch before driving to the park and checking into your booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimp tracking experience and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early for breakfast and report to Kanyancu Park headquarters for a briefing on the chimp tracking experience by a UWA expert ranger. Just after that, you will be divided into groups of six people and led into the forest in search of the next cousin to man. This could take anything between 1 to 5 hours, depending on how fast the chimps move. According to the tracking rules, you will only spend one hour if you encounter them. This will allow you to learn and observe the behaviors of these endangered creatures while photographing them. Return to the lodge for lunch before continuing to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Kasenda crater field areas. As you arrive in the park in the evening and check into your reserved lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon launch cruise at along the Kazinga channel.

Get up early for breakfast and prepare for a game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park’s vast wilderness. The drive will allow you to see some of the wild species such as lions, leopards, elephant herds, buffaloes, oribi, bushbucks, and so on, particularly along the Kasenyi plains. Return to the lodge to refresh and eat lunch while waiting for the afternoon boat ride on the Kazinga channel.

The two-hour boat ride will allow you to see other species such as hippos, elephants, buffaloes, and water birds while taking photos that will last a lifetime. After that, return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5: After an early morning game drive, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today, wake up early for breakfast and then check out of the lodge before heading to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. An en-route game drive will allow you to photograph wildlife such as Uganda kobs, bushbucks, and lions. A quick lunch break in the Ishasha sector. Later in the afternoon, continue with a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking experience

Start your adventure trek to Bwindi’s mist-covered forests in search of the critically endangered mountain gorilla species. Depending on the gorillas’ movement, this might take between 1 to 8 hours.  According to the trekking regulations, if you have a gorilla encounter, you can spend an hour in their front yard. Giving you a chance to take pictures while learning and observing the behaviors of these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Later, return to the Park Headquarters where you will receive a certificate for mountain gorillas trekking before making your way to the lodge for dinner and the night

Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe international airport

Get up early for breakfast, then check out of the lodge and drive back to Kampala. Take a lunch break in Mbarara and a brief stop to buy souvenirs at the Kayabwe equator crossing. Depending on your flight time, the journey will then continue to Kampala or Entebbe international airport.
