It’s a form of card or document that is issued by the governing body of the wildlife conservation areas in Uganda known as UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority). This only applies to Bwindi Impenetrable forest and Mgahinga National Parks.
The document shows that the person has been legally authorized to visit the protected area for gorilla trekking activity.
The revenues from gorilla trekking trips help fund national parks and provide a financial incentive for locals to safeguard gorillas. Every guest must have a permit to visit the mountain gorillas in Uganda.
Cost of Gorilla Permit in Uganda
The permit cost 700 dollars to foreign visitors, $ 600 to foreign residents, and 250,000/= Shs for East African residents.

This costs $ 1500 for Foreigners, $ 1000 for Foreign residents, and 750,000/= Ugx. Shillings to East Africans.
How to acquire a Gorilla Permit
For some one to acquire a gorilla permit, they should contact an accredited tour operator and provide details in form of a passport for proper identification from the Uganda wildlife authority.
Travelers should be able to book their permits at least 6 months before the date of tracking since permits are in high demand.
However, there are always 160 permits available per day. Since these permits are divided between the 19 Gorillas habituated families in the four sectors of Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park and Mgahinga National Park.
It is important to know that a permit only grants access to a trek and one hour with the gorillas. It does not include any other costs, such as accommodation, transport, meals, etc.
