Your Fantastic 12-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Mabamba Swamp Birding

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport very early morning our guide will meet and greet you. Later, you will be transferred  to Mabamba Swamp a Ramsar-listed wetland famous for the Shoebill Stork, one of the world’s most sought-after birds. Other species include the African Jacana, Papyrus Gonolek, Malachite Kingfisher, and more. Start tracking the Shoebill, in the afternoon have your lunch break. You may continue searching for other species of birds listed above. Later, return to your lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, we begin our journey to Murchison Falls National Park , stopping at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided Rhino tracking experience. Here, you’ll have the chance to see white rhinos up close, a significant conservation success story. We continue to Murchison Falls via Top of the Falls, then proceed to check in at the lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive & Birding in Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up for an early morning game drive in the Buligi sector, where we will search for lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, and antelopes. The park is also home to over 450 bird species, including the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Black-headed Lapwing, and Red-throated Bee-eater. You will take whole day in the park. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park – En Route Birding

Today, we drive south to Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda’s primate capital, famous for chimpanzees and over 375 bird species. Along the way, we enjoy scenic views and spot bird species such as the Great Blue Turaco and Ross’s Turaco. Arriving in the afternoon, we check in at the lodge and relax while enjoying birding around the forest edge.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Swamp Birding

After an early breakfast, we head into Kibale Forest for a chimpanzee tracking adventure. Kibale is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, and during the trek, you may also see Red Colobus, L'Hoest's Monkeys, and Black-and-White Colobus Monkeys. In the afternoon, we visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a paradise for birders, with sightings of Papyrus Gonolek, White-spotted Flufftail, Green-breasted Pitta, and more. Return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Boat Safari

We leave Kibale for Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife. En route, we stop at the Equator point/crossing for photography. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you will see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and waterbirds like African Skimmers, Great White Pelicans, and Pink-backed Pelicans. And on a lucky day you may see some cats coming to hunt on the channel.
Return to the lodge for your final night in the wilderness.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive & Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions

A morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains offers a chance to see lions, buffalos, elephants, warthogs, and numerous antelope species. The birdlife is rich, with species such as Martial Eagle, Grey Crowned Crane, and African Hoopoe. Continue driving through Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions, often spotted resting in fig trees. Proceed to your lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Nature Walk

Today is a highlight of the safari – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi! After a briefing, we embark on a thrilling trek to meet a habituated gorilla family in their natural habitat. The encounter with these gentle giants is unforgettable. In the afternoon, we go for a nature walk where may encounter  Albertine Rift endemics, including the Grauer’s Rush Warbler and Regal Sunbird.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After your relaxed breakfast, checkout for Lake Bunyonyi. You will reach early at your lodge for lunch and later take a boat trip on the lake to explore over 200 different species of birds include kingfishers etc. Return to your lodge for overnight stay.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park – En Route Birding

We leave Lake Bunyonyi for Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park but a top birding destination. Along the way, we bird at Echuya Forest Reserve, looking for the Doherty’s Bushshrike and Black-faced Rufous Warbler. Proceed to your lodge for lunch. Later go for evening evening nature walk in the park.

Day 11: Birding and Game Drive in Lake Mburo

A morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park allows sightings of zebras, elands, impalas, and buffalos. The bird list includes African Finfoot, White-backed Night Heron, and Red-faced Barbet. Later, return to your lodge for evening nature walk in the community where you may site cattle eaglets, hadada ibis etc.

Day 12: Return to Entebbe – Departure

After a relaxed breakfast, we drive back to Entebbe via the equator for more equator experience,  make a stopover at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers to see traditional Ugandan craftsmanship. Continue to the Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight.
