Located in northern Tanzania at approximately 2.1540° S, 34.6857° E, the park covers a vast tract of land around 14,763 square kilometers in size. The Serengeti can be divided into three distinct regions based on vegetation: the Northern Serengeti, the Serengeti Plains, and the Western Corridor.

The area is known for the annual migration of millions of wildebeest, which attracts visitors from around the world. Interestingly, the word ‘Serengeti’ means ‘endless plains’ in the Maasai language.

About the reserve

What type of wildlife will we see?

The park boasts an impressive wildlife population that attracts visitors from all over the world. Each year, roughly 3 million antelope, predominantly wildebeest, migrate from one end of the park to the other in search of fresh grazing areas. As expected, this creates an ideal opportunity for a diverse range of predators to follow closely behind, resulting in an unparalleled three-week long spectacle of nature’s predator-prey dynamic.

The rest of the year is equally remarkable, with a large population of animals, including zebra, impala, eland, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, rhino, foxes, jackals, crocodiles, baboons, and more, calling the park their home.
